Widespread Panic Cincinnati 7-26-2005

Widespread Panic Cincinnati 7-26-2005

> Hey Y'All,
>
> I spent the day in Dayton beginning the set up of the last Grand American Trapshoot at the old facility. Sad to see it leave after about 100 years. After work, it was time to head south about 1 hour and 15 minutes to meet Ernie, Rannin, Nate, and Dr. Will at Riverbend for the Drive By Truckers/Widespread Panic show. I was totally psyched to see these two bands together. When I hit I-275 to get to the hotel to meet Will and John, I decided it was time for a pit stop at the Argossy Boat in Lawrenceburg. My last trip hear in April on the way to Drew Emmitt, my caliper locked up and I smoked my brakes. My intention was to "earn" the money to pay for my tickets for the next 2 nights. I threw down a "c" note at the $10.00 table. I have never played for 45 minutes in any casino without getting 2 face cards or a Blackjack at least once, until now that is! I was down to my last $10.00 and I rallied a bit. I left that table and hit the $15.00 table. In 12 minutes I got my c note back plus $80.00, mission accomplished!

> I hung with Will and John and then John and I left for Riverbend. I met Ernie, Jerry, and Rannan in front. The employees at Riverbend are total jack-offs. They refused to let me leave Nate the pair of ducats I bought for him. I had to carry them in and wait for him to call when he arrived.

> The Truckers hit the stage 11 minutes early as we were all still setting up. We mised the first minute of Heathens on the tape. They threw down a nice 52 minute set. Always happy to see my favorite, Sink Hole! Uncle Frank>Devil were a nice pair. They closed with Lookout Mountain.

> Panic hit the stage just before 8:00. Always nice getting a Bowl Legged, our 2nd one this year in Cincy! Wrangler and Papa's also in Cincy twice this year. I wonder if they keep track when they do setlists? Hatfield and Wrangler in the first set was sweet. My first Solid Rock was enjoyable. It was more upbeat than I expected. The set clocked in at over 1:12, long by today's standards. The second set opened with a less than favorite for me, Dyin' Man. The highlight for me was the Drivin'>Papa's sandwich. The set was short due to the 11:00 curfew and the longer 1st set. Definately fits on only 2 discs. It was nice seeing some of the Truckers invited up to assist on the Talking Heads, Life During Wartime>Red Hot Mama! A fun evening followed by a stop at the hotel to party with the Normal/Bloomington crew before ernie and I drove back to Indy.

> Great seeing Prosser and Lara from back home, the biggest surprise of the night! Great hangin' with Ernest T., Jerry, Rannan, Gordon, Drew, Lance, Teresa, N8 and K8, Jon, Sam, Jim, Christie, Brock, Courtney, Christa, and everyone else! Here is how it went down:
