Widespread Panic Los Angeles 7/14/2005

> Hey Y'All,
>
> Sorry for the delay, but it has been an adventure! After an off day at the San Digo Zoo, and a great Mexican dinner with part of the San Diego crew at Fidel's, we headed up to LA. We secured a room directly accross the street from the Wiltern at the Garden Suites, thanks to Tammy and Brad. Diana from Marin made trip down and hung with us during the afternoon. We met at the Farmer's Market by Faifax and 3rd. Wow, a virtual smorgasboard of eateries. As many of you know, some people eat to live, but I live to eat! After gorging, we hit the Whole Foods on 3rd and I grabbed a grapefruit sorbet for the road.
>
> We hit the theatre at about 7:10 and secured a good spot FOB on the 2nd level up from the stage. Dave, one of my old friends from back in the day, lives in town and went with me. It even had an outlet that I ended up using the next 2 nights for my deck! Talk about convenience! The floor got packed quickly and the boys hit the stage at about 8:15. They meant business as they opened with an All Time Low>First Snow>TYS>Makes Sense. The end of the first set was as nice a 4 song segue as you could ask for. I kept thinkin' is this the first or second set? Touble>Holden>Guilded>Goin' Out West! They hit all the transitions very smoothly!
>
> After a short break, they got Down to Business. The Slippin'>Parsons rocked! Parsons is always a great catalyst in any set. I thought about Jayne once again as they gave us 2 more Bloodkin covers. The C. Brown was comical. After he brushes his teeth and combs his head, JB forgot the words, classic moment frozen in time. After 45 seconds, in which he gave us a shit eatin' grin, he remembered where he was and picks back up! Second Skin was as eerie as ever. Yhe Ride Me High was huge! Dave and George were trading killer licks and having a good time. The Hatfield had many classic lines as JB rapped out! He spoke of old tv shows such as Combat and Twelve O'Clock High, us "older timers" can relate. He also talked about Hatfield playing with his Jr. G-man Science Set to conjur up rain. The biggest surprise of all was the Sedated being played after Big Bust for the encore. We got to see Dino work his new lights all night as we were inside tonight. There were times they looked like glowing embers. After the show, we hit the many party rooms at the hotel to hang with the southern Cal crew. Here is how it went down:

>
> The couple had been debating the purchase of a new auto for weeks. He wanted a new truck. She wanted a fast little sports-like car so she could zip through traffic around town.
>
> He would probably have settled for any beat up old truck, but everything she
> seemed to like was way out of their price range.
>
> "Look!" she said. "I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in 4 seconds or
> less. And my birthday is coming up. You could surprise me."
>
> For her birthday, he bought her a brand new bathroom scale.
