David Bromberg Quartet Ann Arbor 2/2/2006

> Hey Y'All,
>
> The time was ripe for my third night in a row in Ann Arbor. I was psyched for this one, as my taper friend Jeff bought me a ticket in row c over 2 months ago. I don't get to see Bromberg that often anymore. He and his wife Ruth catch almost every show at the Ark. I love this venue as the sound is impeccable, and the row c seat is dead center! It was great to see Jim and Lori, Kevin, and Steve! The lady from the Ark made a couple of announcements including no flash photography or audio taping. Hmmmmm. We were treated to a short set by Rod and Anna Capps, who recently played the Ann Arbor Folk Festival. They played a 17 minute set of 4 songs.
>
> After a 23 minute intermission, out came the quartet. They are a solid bunch. Butch Amiot and Jeff Wiser have been with David for 20 years and it showed. They opened with one of my favorites, Six Days on the Road>Fiddle Tunes. As they customarily do, the boys had 3 fiddles in sync for the end of the song. At the end of Yankees Revenge, they had 3 mandolins going full force. It was mostly folk/bluegrass music.A couple of oldies like Demon in Disguise, Dark Hollow, and Brokedown Wagon were very well received. David played one solo, I was hoping for a Churchbell Blues>Statesboro, but not this time. They closed out the 2nd encore with a Roll on John, totally unplugged. The quartet got right up to the front of the stage.
>
> I thoroughly enjoyed the show and so did the sold out audience. A quick stop at the N.Y. Pizza Depot, and back to Ohio. If you get a chance, check them out! Here is how it went down(The setlist is lacking times a a couple of titles as I was pre-occupied during the performance):
