> Hey Y'All,
>
> Night two of the weekend found us in good spirits! A Noreaster was called for in the forecast to begin dumping at 5:00 in the afternoon. Every tv and radio station were talking up the storm, getting people into a frenzy. Well, as Mark, Laurie, and I drove in from Jersey at 5:00, it began. It was coming down hard as we headed in to Mama Goo's for dinner. We ordered some apps and dinner. I was getting edgy as they were busy and I wanted to get to the Beacon. The soup dumplings, and the green onion pancakes arrived, so my mind came back to the dinner table. We agreed that the soup dumplings were very good, butr not as big as the ones we get from Shang Hai. The Prawns with Garlic raged! The Sizzling Beef and the Noodle Dish were also great. Off to the theatre.

> Once inside, I hooked up with Jim and Wayne. My moto, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Within minutes, we found ourselves in row H, DFC. Cheryl and Richard were right behind us. And yes, Curtis was right there in the mix. I did notice lots of Red Sox fans at the show, right Lynchee? We did notice an extra mic stand and guitar amp on stage. I was projecting some wishful thinking on who it might be. The set started with a China-Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider. The transition to Rider was a bit off, and the song was played a bit slow in my opinion. Next was another old favorite, Scarlet Begonias which stretched out with a jam to about 17 minutes. Barry started playing the lead and in mid-stream, Larry took over, a very cool moment. No Fire on the Mtn, but the Wheel instead. The closing pair was great, Cumberland and Uncle John's. Barry was stokin' the pedal steel and the mandolin played by Larry for Uncle John's was sweet.

> As we readied for the 2nd set, we were still wondering who our guest could be. After a 49 minute break, we found out it was Warren. He would play the entire 2nd set in place of Barry. I thought I heard the Wah-Wah for a Shakedown. Yes! This led into a phat Viola Lee Blues sandwich, filled with Hard to Handle and Bertha. The beginning of Bertha was a tad rough. Phil busted out Big Brown for my first Bartering Lines>Jam>Caution. Well, we ended up getting the Fire on the Mtn later than expected and a Not Fade Away. Nothing like an hour and 47 minute set! I believe the encore was my favorite trio of songs for the evening, Strawberry Fields>Comes a Time>Golden Road. Barry joined in on the pedal steel for this. I spoke with David who was back home at Yonder Mountain. They opened with No Expectations, and those were my thoughts on the first 2 shows going in. I was pleasantly surprised! What is up for Sunday night?

As we exited the Beacon, it clearly snowed close to 6 inches during the show. As we headed down Riverside, we got rear-ended by a car that could not stop. We moved out of the intersection and when we pulled over, the @)*@^%!%!!! jumped on the West Side Highway and took off. It snowed all night resulting in the largest 24 hour accumulation in Manhattan. I just love being a part of history!
