Jerry Joseph Atlanta 5/6/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> Sorry about the delay, still trying to get caught up. I picked up Tim and Zee at the airport. We headed up to the house and chilled for a couple of hours. Over to Sapporito's for some Calzones, Slices, Baked Ziti, and Chicken Parmesan(For you Tammy). Excellent as always! Headed down to the Variety Playhouse as Jerry was opening up for Moonshine Still. we found John already in the sweet spot. I clamped on to his stand to make more room.. Charles and D.P. soon arrived and Charles let me borrow his 4v's, so I slapped them on the actives.

> Not one of Jerry's more inspired shows. He had played Portland the previous night and flew in for the weekend. i am guessing he was probably tired. He was very subdued as he played mostly mellow material. He came on at about 9:25 and opened with miracle Day. He played Muzzle and Muscle back to back. He closed out with a Gunsmoke>Climb to Safety. It was only a 55 minute set as he was the opener. The crowd was on the thin side as most of the people arrived to see Moonshine Still.

> We decided to stay for Moonshine Still's first set. They were parting ways with their drummer Fred, of 10 years, so it was a special show for them. I hadn't seen them since November of 2004 when they opened for Leftover Salmon 2 nights in the Southeast. They played a bit over an hour. Cecil "Peanut" Daniels was their guest as he sat in on 3 songs that set. He played percussion on 1 tune and his sax on the other 2. He added quite a bit to the Why Aren't You Dancing. The crowd was pretty good and definitely into the show. I hate to sound negative, but the guy doing lights had those elevated lights on the back of the stage that he kept shining into the crowd. Being in the 3rd and 4th rows beyond the pit, the sweet spot , we were getting "blinded by the light" (Springsteen/Manfred Mann's Earthband).
>
> After the set we bugged out. Charles, Mindy, D.P., and Kelly came out to the burbs and hung with us for a few hours. Good times for sure!
