Freddy Jones Band Atlanta 6-4-2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> I heard about the Freddy Jones Band playing the Summer Fest in Atlanta about a week prior to the show. I called Tracy to let her know as she is good friends with the boys. (I think she is good friends with everyone). She was surprised, as was I that they were playing again. I haven't seen them in 10 years! They used to open for Panic back in like 1993-1994 if I recall. We got up after a long day of partying at the Fox's BBQ the day before! Our guests were all leaving today, except for Pete, it was an easy sell to have him go to another show! I prepared some killler omlettes with fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, green onions, salsa, sharp cheddar, and sour cream. Served with bagels and fresh cantalope, and some Kona coffee. After saying goodbye to our guests, Pete and I headed down to the Highlands with my gear. It was a beautiful day and Chris asked if I was taking an umbrella. I said why? Yhat was my first mistake of the day.
>
> We found a place to park and headed in. I ran into an old friend Julie, that I have not seen since the Dogwood Festival in 1997! We recognized each other and chatted for a bit. We then hiked what seemed like a mile towards the stage. I got there as Bain Mattox was on stage. I set up FOB and ran the last half of their set. Never heard or seen these local guys. No clue on their setlist, any help? Tracy showed up and introduced me to Rob and a couple of others in the band.

> As Freddy Jones was about to come on, the sky was covered in gray clouds, and you guessed it, the rains came! I was able to put my gear under the 10' x 10' sound tent. Jason, the sound guy was spinning Phish between sets, so I knew it was cool to ask him. It poured for about 10 minutes as the band started up. In no time, it looked like a wet t-shirt contest as I was not the only one without an umbrella. They opened up with Late This Morning. It was appropriate they played Rain today! Some familiar songs such as Waitress was included in today's setlist. The highlight was the Take the Time sandwich with some Baba O'Riley filling! The In a Daydream encore was very nice as well. Not sure if I got all the songs correct.
>
> The rain subsided after the first song, and I went back up front with Pete. I got to meet Jeff up there. Who else shows up, Robert Kwon, always great to see him! Tracy visited us several times with margaritas and beers during the set.
