Panic Show @ Redrocks- non Zman

This cracked me up...worth a post

Panic Show @ Redrocks

Saturday, June 28

4:00am - Wake up after 3 hours of sleep and take a cab to Logan airport.

10:30am - Arrive Denver Intl. airport, meet up with friend, Mat, rent car,
drive to liquor store.

11:30am - Enter liquor store and buy a case of Coors and a case of Coors
Light (we're in Colorado after all). Also buy flimsy styrofoam cooler that
is sure to break before the day is over.

11:33am - Flimsy styrofoam cooler falls over and breaks as I wheel out of
liquor store parking lot. Go back to liquor store for second flimsy
styrofoam cooler.

11:45am - Arrive at the 6th Ave. Travelodge. As I am stepping out of the
car, a car pulls up and a guy leans out of the passenger side window to
offer me mushroom chocolates at $20 a pop. I ask him if one will do the
trick. He says yes. I buy two.

2:00pm - Follow my friend Hugo and others into the Red Rocks parking lot.
He drives a sky blue '76 Cadillac El Dorado convertible (hip). I'm driving a
maroon Mazda 626 (loser). I proceed to scour the parking lot for the
prerequisite ammunition I will need for the show. As I am buying a
one-hitter from a dirty, bearded guy, a dirty, hairy-legged girl approaches
me about some "blueberry organics from Oregon". I give her a perplexed look
before concluding she must be selling mushrooms and bring her back to our
car. My friends buy an ounce for all of us. I buy a quarter for backup.

2:40pm - A girl asks us if we want any "Puff". 10 minutes later, a guy asks
us if we want any "Dust". It quickly dawns on me that I am getting old if I
am no longer familiar with the latest drug trends. We reject both and decide
to stick with the stuff we know will **** us up.

4:30pm - After numerous Coors Regulars, a couple of joints and a handful of
caps, I've got a pretty good buzz going, especially for a Saturday
afternoon. My friend Mat and I decide to eat our little chocolate treats
which have been chilling in the flimsy styro foam cooler. We notice they are
shaped like Denver Bronco heads.

4:31pm - We head into the show early to get good seats.

4:45pm - While waiting in line to get in, I notice that my friend Mat is
starting to glance around nervously. When questioned, he tells me that we
have to get into the show NOW! He also tells me if it rains, it might have
serious consequences for his mental health. He also informs me that the
handrail he is clutching with both hands is a dear friend that he's known
since childhood. Looks like the guy was right about the chocolates.

5:00 - We take our seats on row 30. Neurons are definitely doing a little
dance in my head now. I perk up my ears when I overhear the guy behind us
mention Denver Bronco chocolates. He advises his buddy to "only eat half or
maybe even just a quarter" unless he wants to spend the entire show on
Pluto. I turn to my friend Mat. He is a slobbering, incoherent mess. I write
him off as a mushroom casualty after it takes him at least half an hour to
decide which restroom he should use.

5:30 - Still 2 hours until the band comes on. The grassy hill to the right
of the stage erupts into a ball of green flames. I look away in horror and
decide to concentrate on a harmless rock formation. Only problem is this
rock formation is really a giant iguana that is trying to eat one of the
speaker set-ups.

6:45 - Most of the people in the group I'm with have also procured some of
these potent little mind-blasting chocolates. They inquire how they are
treating me. As one guy's face contorts into something out of a bad '80s
horror flick, I lie and tell everybody that I don't really feel anything.
It's probably better that they take everything in the arsenal because these
things are pretty weak. I decide if I'm going to be sailing the high sees of
hysteria, everyone's going to be on the same ****ed-up boat. One girl eyes
me suspiciously and remarks that my eyeballs look like black marbles. I turn
away to see if the iguana has crept any closer.

6:00 - After the green tarp we're sitting on sucks my beer down into its
gullet, I turn to my friends and ask if everyone is ready to go. They remind
me that the band hasn't even come on yet. Oh right! We're here to see a
Panic show and there's still AT LEAST AN HOUR 'TIL SHOWTIME!

7:00 - The band (at this point I don't even know who it is we're here to
see - Lightspeed Tantric or something) is late. By this time my entire group
of people is a complete train wreck. Total chaos and incoherence. One girl
is crying. I laugh at her. I ponder going to the rest room but decide the 15
minute journey would be about 14 minutes and 30 seconds longer than my
jellied brain could handle. I decide to piss in a beer bottle. I notice a
young lady staring at me, appalled. I tell her not to worry and that I'm
from Tennessee, "where it's OK to piss outdoors." The nervous laughter
quotient of the surrounding crowd is very high at this point.

7:30 - YESSSSSS!!!!! The band comes on. And the iguana doesn't even try to
eat them! For the next 4 hours I intermittently find myself dancing and
sometimes standing still just staring into space. I believe some drooling
was involved somewhere in there. At set break I wash down another handful of
shrooms with some smuggled 1800 tequila. The rest of the night is more or
less blank. I remember being lost in a parking lot. I remember the look of
fear on the Travelodge desk clerk's face when I tried to check in at
midnight. I also remember that there was a group of aging hippies (50-60
years old) in front of us who were partying harder than anyone in the place
and it gave me hope.

Ekoostik Hookah Cleveland 6/22/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> I had this one penciled in after hearing about Hookahville the end of May. The
prospect of hearing a Washboard Annie, or a Harmonic Convergence had me
interested in this show. I met Tim at the house, and we headed back to Cleveland
wih Alex for the 2nd night in a row. We went to the House of Blues to eat in the
restaurant prior to the show. The doors were open so I went in, staked out my
spot in front of the board, and set up. I ordered some Calamari with the Asian
sauce and cabbage. I sat with the our crew in the restaurant until my take out
was ready. I headed next door and began to chow down. After 2 bites, I realized
the calamari was way too salty. A manager came buy and swapped it out for some
chicken tenders and sweet potato fries. Much better.
>
> By the time Hookah took the stage, the floor was filled in nicely. Not really
overcrowded. After opening with a better man, I got a Washboard Annie, first
time hearing it in over ten years! A killer Slipjig! The Backseat>Backwoods Rose
combo was great as well. The set closed after over an hour and a half. I
miandered and talked with some friends in between sets for the 29 minute break.
The second set was nothing short of what we already heard. I got two of my
favorites, Ecstasy and Keepin' Time! Sweney killed the latter, actually breaking
a string on his guitar. After Keepin' Time, they closed with a 21 minute Freedom
Flyer. Sun Goes Down had us leaving on a high note. I waas able to chat with
Mullins and thanked him for the strong show. After mentioning I was from
Atlanta, he reminisced about that being his last show. Dan had the room sounding
great! Buddy on lights makes a great addition! Hope to see more of him. Great
hangin' with Tim, Alex, Jack, Mark and Vicky, Corinne, Bradley and Lisa, Dave,
Nate, and Phil.
>
> Time to drive back. It was nice having company this time around. no way the
drive would be a nightmare like last night when the area got 6 inches of rain in
about 3 hours! Back in at 3:00, time to pack as I had some travel plans for very
early Friday. I did get a 45 minute nap befoe checking out.

Allman Brothers Band Cleveland 6/21/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> Again, I apologize for the delay here. A very busy work week as one of my
managers was on vacation and I had to fill in for lots of catering this week.
Good to keep your cheffing skills sharp. Levi had called me 2 months ago as he
got Jeff and I ticketsd in the 7th row. Couldn't pass this show up. My last show
was also an ABB show 6 days prior. Two shows of ABB in a row, how nice. I left
work around 4:00 and headed east to Cleveland. I was hoping to go with Tim, but
he was running behind. Traffic was not bad. I settled for a stuffed pizza at
Sbarro's on the Ohio Turnpike. Got to the lot at about 6:00. The skies were
pretty much sunny, no idea what we were to experience in the next few hours. I
met Jeff and Levi, and we entered the Plain Dealer Pavilion. Most of you will
remember the venue as Nautica, several Panic shows ago. It changed to the Scene
Pavilion 2 years ago, and now the new name. About 2 years ago, they put a huge
circus style tent over the venue. Thank Goodness! My first show hear with
reserved seats. We went to the seats and found out we were not DFC, and very
close considering the stacks were out from the stage. We looked to trade, but
very few people inside at this point. We got lucky and traded 3 people in the
center about 10 rows back. They had an extra ticket, so we traded our 3 for
their 4! Such a deal.
>
> We set up and began to tape the Derek Trucks Band. Not many folks here yet.
Derek again sounded very tight. Mike belted out a nice Soul Stew. The For My
Brother, Favorite Things, and Sail On were also very strong. Tonight's set was
longer than last week, stretching out over an hour.
>
> Good seeing a couple of the Pittsburgh tapers here, Jamie and Steve. Taper
Scott was also in the house as was Jesse, who ran up in the first few rows with
his 414's. The Brothers took the stage after a 34 minute changeover. The classic
Don't Want You No More>Ain't My Cross to Bear kicked off the evening. Several
large boats drifted behind the stage on the river. Another Rockin' Horse, not as
good as Cincy. As the song segued into Good Clean Fun, mother natures light show
began! I've seen lightning, and I've seen lightning. But I can't remember seeing
lightning like this. Every 2 seconds, the sky was lit up, and I mean every
couple of seconds! This was to last for the next hour and 15 minutes. It poured
as well, non-stop. It was blowing so hard, we were feeling mist all the way in
the middle of the tent! The next song, the surprise of the night for me, was The
Sky is Crying! Never heard them do this one before. How appropriate! We were
amazed that the band never stopped with the lightning going on.
>
> Another Midnight Rider. My next treat was a version of the Weight. My only
complaint here was I thought they could have done a bit of harmony on the
chorus. I have been seeing these guys for 33 years and tonight I hear 2 songs I
have never seen them do before! That blows me away. The rest of the show was
money with a Statesboro>Mountain Jam! A No One Left to Run With, and the show
was over. We walked very swiftly through the easing rain. I stopped at Subway
for a sandwich and hit the turnpike. Once I got on the Ohio Turnpike, the
lightning and rain got very intense! It couldn't rain any harder for the next 80
minutes! The lightning had the night seem like daytime! I saw lightning touch
down in a field next to me.Needless to say, the ride back sucked. In at about
2:15, very stressful. No speeding as I went about 45 MPH the whole way.

Allman Brothers Band Cincinnati 6/16/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> Mucho delay on this one! I had thought about driving to Cincinnati, about 4
hours south of Toledo. I just was not up for driving back at least 3 hours after
the show, especailly after getting in so late from last night's show. And the
thought of getting up after a 2 hour nap to work a special event at ny account
in Findlay from 6:00 am, until 5:00 p.m., then driving to Michigan to help
finish a wedding reception that we booked, weighed heavily against the insanity.
My partner in crime, Tim, decided to join me so my decision was now much easier.
I somehow could now justify this crazy trip. I had been talking to Jeff and Pete
which did not help me make a rational decision. It was the day after Jeff's
birthday and I needed to be there to wish him a Happy Birthday! I drove to
Findlay late morning to work with my manager getting set up for tomorrow's auto
show. At least I was 45 minutes closer to Cincinnati. only proble is Tim's truck
broke down, so now it was decision time. Being wide awake and not trying to
think of the after show horror of a drive, I took off at about 2:45.
>
> I got through the traffic around Cincinnati and arrived at about 6:15. Without
a ticket, I went to the box office. I pulled a ticket in row G, section 200,
CENTER! I pulled 3 and Jeff sold his 2 pit tickets so Pete, Jeff, and I could
hang. Good old River Bend. It was the opening night of the tour. I got to my
seats and immediately ran into Jim P. and Lee R. I got the obligatory "I thought
you weren't coming". I really was not planning on it. I headed to the middle of
the row. Jeff was reluctant, but I told him nobody was coming in early for Derek
Trucks. We set up directly behind the 13th row, DFC! I made friends with
Elizabeth the usher and it seemed we would be set for the evening. Doug, Tom,
and Chris were all taping as well. My last ABB show here was 8/2001, and I hung
with my dear, departed friend Holly. I can't help buit think of her whenever I
see a show in Cincy.
>
> Derek came on at about 7:01 and opening with a Volunteered Slavery.. A very
tight 51 minute set. Mike belted out a sweet Leavin' Trunk in the middle of the
set. Butch Trucks watched half of the set from the side of the stage.
>
> After a 39 minute stage changeover, the Brothers began their set with Done
Somebody Wrong. Warren belted out a great version of Woman Across the River. He
actually sang 4 tunes tonight, mostly blues. The 12 minute Rockin' Horse was
Stellar! Derek plays the song as well as Warren! This segued nicely into Hot
'Lanta! Always great seeing Stormy Monday! The big jam song of the night was In
Memory of Elizabeth Reed. With the drums, it was well over 30 minutes. It nicely
ended the 2 hour and 13 minute set. Back out for a One Way Out, followed by a
Z-Man out. I did not run into Pete D. until the end of the set. A good start for
the summer tour. Slim did his usual great job on sound. He is one of the best ,
day in and day out, whether it is the ABB, or Mule!
>
> I made numerous coffee stops, as well as a White Castle stop for "sliders",
ouch! Got in around 3:00 am, enough time for a 2 hour nap before a very long
work day.

Roy Bookbinder Cleveland 6/15/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> I received an email from Terry, my taping buddy in Cleveland. He informed me that Roy would be in town and gave me some good directions. Never been to Night Town. At 5:45, i threw my gear in the Jeep and said, what the hell. I haven't seen Roy in a couple of years. A great entertainer and even a better story teller. I remember seeing him at Merlefest in 1996 and have seen him several times since.
> Here is a description if you haven't seen him:
>
> Roy Book Binder has been a Blues singing, guitar picking, song writing raconteur for the past thirty years. He worked closely in the ' 60s with blues masters Rev. Gary Davis and Pink Anderson. He is a genuine example of the traveling bluesman tradition that began in the ' 20s, was revived in the ' 60s and continues today. Book Binder's stories are as good as the songs. The Sydney Morning Herald said, "behind the humor lurks a musical master."
>
> I got to Night Town at about 7:55. I went through the bar and into the dining room. Terry flagged me down and introduced me to his friend Pat. She said I was welcome to join her and her daughter. No problem as the table was DFC! I was ready to record in about 5 minutes, which is about 2 minutes before Roy was to come on. I began rolling and my eyes wandered at people eating all around me. Wow, exquisite looking food! I grabbed my flashlight and checked out the menu. The Old Chatham Cheese Plate looked like a nice start. A nice hunk of Camembert with candied walnuts, fresh fruit, and water biscuits. Yummy! The Roasted Duck Breast Salad looked like the choice for dinner. Kinda light, which was good since I did hit Sbarros for a slice on the turnpike. Mescalin mix, greens, balsamic roasted shallots, goat cheese, strawberries, served with a blush vinaigrette. French baggettes included. Believe it or not, the scraping of plates was not too bad on the recording.
>
> Roy started at 8:08 with the Bird Boy Fuller piece, Rag Mama. If you've seen Roy, you know he can spin stories as well as anyone. He told us of how he began hanging with the Reverand Gary Davis. He also told us how he went to NYC to see a Robert Lockwood tribute at B.B. Kings. He said he invited Robert to the show as he lives in Cleveland. He played some great covers such as Blind Willie McTell's Baby it Must Be Love, The Rev's Let Us Get Together, and of course Dehlia. He closed the set after 1 hour. I was enjoying the music, food, and company at my table. By now Tim and Hank showed up. Pat graciously kept offering me wine. The Steel Creek Pinot Noir was tasting very good! Between sets, Terry introduced me to Roy. We chatted for a short bit as he had many people to talk to. I relieved myself after this. In many restrooms in bars and restaurants, the establishment pins up the sports pages of the newspaper. Here over the urinals were replica newspapers of the 1904 and 1965 NY Times! Awesome touch.
>
> After about a half hour, Roy began set two with a Black Dog Rag. I was surprised to see the Billy Jon Shaver cover of Chunk of Coal. Hadn't seen that in about a year. Next thing you know, Robert Lockwood walks in and grabs a seat at Terry' and Jan's table! Imagine this 91 year old legend making an appearance to see Roy. He got a rousing ovation. I got to meet him after the show. He played his own composition, St. Pete Blues for the 2nd time that night. He said he liked it so much the first time, that he thought he would play it again! More Rev. Gary Davis as we got Hesitation Blues, and Police Dog Blues. He closed with the C C and O Blues. The crowd got him out for an encore. i packed up my gear, said goodbye to all, and headed west. I thanked Pat for sharing her table, and 3 bottles of wine. I noticed Melissa was conspiculously absent. Another new venue for me. The food here and at Wilbert's downtown, are two of my favorite eating spots in Cleveland.
>
> As I drove west on Carnagie, I saw a lit sign with a pig on it. Yes, it was a BBQ joint. I think it was called Sauce Williams. And yes, I felt compelled to stop! As I got out of my car, I realized I was in the "hood". I ordered a pulled pork plate with some fresh cabbage and homeade cole slaw. I didn't get 1 block before I had gotten into my "dessert". The pork melted in my mouth. I did not like the sauce at all. Cabbage was excellent. With all the ruffage tonight, running out of gas on the turnpike would not happen. I made the 2 hour drive back and went to bed as I had an early day ahead of me. Tomorrow would be a new adventure!

>

Magic Slim and the Teardrops Ann Arbor 6/12/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> I received a call from Brian in Ann Arbor about tonight's show at The Ark. I kinda had this one penciled in. After speaking with Brian late this afternoon, my mind was made up. Magic's health isn't the best and if you get a chance this close, you "have" to go. I left work around 5:30, changed and grabbed my gear. Anyways, I needed an excuse to go to Whole Foods for some grazing. Got to Whole Foods by 6:45. The Low Fat Irish Cheddar was $2.00 off a pound. It was very tasty and sharp. The halibut spread on some Ciabatta bread definitely hit the spot. Some Tarot chips, goat cheese, and some black bean salad rounded out the tasting. I picked up some Chipolte Brisket as usual. I bought a container of Andouille Thought Sausage Gumbo. Very spicy and thick! Off to The Ark. One circle around the block netted me a free spot at a meter. My gear was packed low profile as I proceeded to the doors. They opened about 2 minutes after I arrived. I bought a ducat and entered. I had a GA ticket and grabbed my spot in the 8th row DFC. The place only got about halfway filled. It was a Monday night. Great seeing the usual suspects - Jeff and Ruth, and Brian! Where were Steve, Jim and Laurie, and Kevin??
>
> The Tear Drops hit the stage just afer 8:00. The first 2 songs were just the Teardrops. Enter Magic Slim! After one song, he put his guitar down and left the stage quickly. His rhythm guitarist introduced Key to the Highway. Within 1 minute, Slim was back and Key was aborted. Instead, we got Get Your Business Staight. The set progressed nicely culminating with the combo Yonder Wall>Hideaway. We just saw Johnny Winter tear up a Hideaway 12 days prior at this venue. After a 50 minute set, they took an 18 minute break.
>
> The second set opened like the first, with just the Teardrops. Now it was time for Key to the Highway. After 2 tunes, Magic appeared. Another 9 song set. A nice I Play the Blues For You>Rock Me Baby. The Rock Me Baby had some nice trading guitar licks. The set ended with Angel of Mercy>The Blues is Alright. They were not getting out of there without an encore. For a small crowd, they we were enthusiastic! The encore consisted of Kansas City>Sweet Home Chicago>The Blues is Alright. I thoroughly enjoyed this gem of a blues show! Dan "Mudfoot" ran the sound. Unfortunately, there was a buzz on Magic's guitar at times. This problem also plagued the Johnny Winter show last week. Must be a bad ground on a pickup. If you get the chance to see them, make it happen. I boogied out as I had a couple of work related phone calls come in on the way out. My last trip less than two weeks ago I discovered the NY Pizza Depot's summer hours had the joint closed by the end of the show. Jeff and Ruth steered me to a second location. I got there by 10:30 and lo and behold, it was closed as well. Next time, more courses at Whole Foods so I can eat some on the way back.

Nite Flight LaSalle, Michigan 6/10/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> After 3 days in the saddle, Zee and I headed back up to Toledo. We got up in Columbus and hit the road at about 11:00. Our first stop was Coon's Candy Company about an hour north of Columbus. Some tasty toffee candy. We did stop in Bowling Green so I could take Zee to play a few holes of Disc Golf at one of my favorite courses! It was a beautiful day! The only problem, I had to work up in Michigan on the lake. Zee was supposed to go with me, but decided to park himself at Tim's house, stay wasted for 8 hours, and watch the Deadliest Catch multiple episodes! I went to work in the afternoon.
>
> We had booked a Reggae/Calypso band called Nite Flight out of Ann Arbor. They are all from the Carribean and very cool. They had no problem with me running my gear and even offered me the board. At first I decided to take it as I was working and did not want my stuff possibly messed with. Halfway thru the first song, I could not get a strong enough signal so i set up my mics and switched mid stream, losing only about 45 seconds. I set up 2 feet in front of the stage. Where were Charles's MK2S's when I needed them! Strangely enough, the recording sounds great and I will send the band a copy as they requested. I recorded the 2 sets of music. As I was working, I could not pay attention and keep a setlist. The music was enjoyable and the guests were grooving it. The first set contained more Calypso than Reggae. We did get a nice Kingston Town, Don't Worry, Be Happy, and Stir it Up. The set only lasted just under an hour. If you know Michigan near the lake in June, you know about the millions of Mayflies! Swarms everywhere.
>
> They came out and played a second set for about an hour. No setlist at all as we were getting busy in the bar and I was helping the girls. Sorry for the incomplete info, but work came first this time. It was close to 1:00 when I headed down I-75 to Tim's. I stopped in for about 30 minutes. I was dead tired and we left. We did stop at the Cottage Inn for a large deluxe pizza. That puppy got swallowed up in a hurry as we watched, you guessed it, the Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel!
>
> I tried to give Zee a nice variety of music before his sabbatical in Alaska. In four nights he got a Dave Matthews show, 2 Mule shows, an Umphrey's McGee set, a Spikedrivers show, yet he passed on the Nite Flight show. He stayed wasted the entire four days, never had to drive any of the 850 miles, slept late each morning, etc...Not bad. We went with Tim over to the Star Diner on Alexis Sunday morning before I took him back to the Detroit airport. He went home, and I went to work the rest of the day.

Spikedrivers Columbus 6/9/2006

Hey Y'All,

After saying goodbye to Lopez, Rick, and all the freaks at the Mule show, i was packed and ready to haul to Oldfields for the Spikedrivers! Between Pete's 2 year old chocolates, and lots of beer and triple Crowns, Zee and I were not about to call it a night. Only problem was my Jeep could not make it to Neptune, and that is about where Nate was at! After about 8 cell phjone calls back and forth, he and his buddy, stumbled into the Jeep. We made it to Oldfields in about 10 minutes. I picked a spot about 15' from the stage. Nate tried to convince me to move to the back wall. The sound of beer bottles slammin' in the trash, and the women's bathroom door getting flooded with traffic, had me to believe I was where I needed to be. The place had a nice crowd. Then the SD took the stage and I realized that now there was a nice crowd. The dance floor in front of me and around me filled in.

They opened at about 12:30 with a Built for Comfort. Always a good tune to see live. Being in a rowdy bar meant it was time for the Hank Williams classic, Hoky Tonkin'. I always admire a band that covers Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues! They played a short but tight 52 minute set. I must admit this was my first SD show with Sweney on guitar. Definitely more interesting as he traded licks with Paul, who plays a kick-ass lap steel, among other guitars. By now, Nate was cooked and his eyes were almost closed. He probably does not remember talking to Ted Ginn. His buddy was quite wasted as well, as we all were. Where was Pete E.?

After a very brief break, it was back up for set III. Nate was now in the barstool I put in front of the stand for protection. Now, how was I to protect the gear from Nate? Simple, we dragged the stool back about 3 feet! We were dacncin' and havin' a grand old time. I got slack on the setlist but do recall a Shotgun in there. Megan covered a nice version of Jolene. The set closed with a rockin' Good Ol' Mountain Dew. The boistrous crowd demande one more. they closed with a tribute to Katrina with America Hit Below the Bible Belt. The band kicked some ass! Jessie the Body was in fine form. Dual guitar licks, Megan cookin' up the room on the fiddle, and a solid backbone of Steve on bass and Tim on drums set the tone.

Time to pile Nate into the Jeep and get him home. After we got to the house, it took almost 10 minutes for him to find his keys. BTW, how did the video footage I shot come out Nate? I did my best, I believe the lens cap was off and I did hit record. We covered the food in the review of tonight's first show. But I vaguely remember going thru Rally's with Zee after 3:00 a.m.?

Gov't Mule Columbus 6/9/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> We got up after an entertaining evening of Mule. I had been up doing some work stuff, as Zee snoozed away. We hit the road late morning as we headed west on I-70, back to Columbus. We snagged a quick bite on the way. We arrived at Nate and Kate's in the middle of the afternoon. My first visit to see Blaik, Nate and kate's baby boy. I guess you could say I got to see my "Grandson". What a cute little boy! We watched some old Panic video, thanks to Pete. Did I mention we were hungry?
> We went to Weiland's near Nate's house to pick up some grub. I really like the store, kinda like a neighborhood Whole Foods, but even MORE expensive. Quality items though. We picked up some very good looking steaks. Nate grabbed some homeade Chicken Salad, and Zee picked out a nice Merlot. I couldn't resist the smoked brisket in the hot food case. I figured a 1/2 pound would not hurt my appetite. The chicken salad on gourmet crackers was a nice appetizer. Well, 2nd appetizer as I had the brisket. Nate fired up the grill, and in 20 minutes, dinner was ready! By the time we were done, I was ready to hit the venue. Those guys were in no hurry and I would meet them later. Nate had a couple of "chocolates" from a couple of tours ago that he do-Nated to our cause for the night. Thanks Pete, you were definitely with us in spirit tonight!
>
> I arrived at Promo West, bought a ticket, and entered the scene. Finally, I would see this venue on the outside. The few shows that were supposed to be outside, got changed inside due to weather or other unknown reasons. The tapers section is just behind the VIP section, not too far back. Actually, too far back for me. I went down to the pit and set up by the rail, DFC. I went up to the section to say hey to Nate's illegitimate brother, and my illegitimate son, Rob. Jason was also in the house taping. The soundboard is all the way up the hill oin the back, very strange spot indeed. Slim still made it work as usual.
>
> Umphrey's McGee was the opener and I was surprised how full the pit was prior to the start of the show. It was a bit windy, even more so up on the lawn. I have seen Umphrey's probably about 10 times, the last one being in Nawlin's for last years Mule show at the Orpheum. They were pretty good, but never pushed me over the top. After about 1/2 way into the set, I realized that they have improved greatly since the past 14 months, a marked improvement. They were much tighter and played some very good songs. more lyrics this time around as well. Zee thought they were very good, and this was way before all the triple Crown Royals he was bringing us. They played just short of a 2 hour set. I was surprised they got that much time. The Walletsworth>Plunger opener got everyone's attention. I enjoyed the Jimmy Stewart as both Jake and Brandon played a very cool twin lead, reminiscent of the style of the Allman Brothers back in the day. The long Bridgeless closed the set.
>
> We were now primed for our daily dose of Mule! Warren and the boys took the stage after about a 35 minute changeover. They opened with a slow John the Revelator featuring Danny blowing trumpet on this one. It was time to cook as Rockin' Horse>Larger than Life was up next. Old school jamming with Birth of the Mule. One of the highlights for me had to be the Gameface>Mountain Jam>Gameface sandwich! Never get tired of that one! Jake from Umphrey's joined up to help with a very slow and long version of Watchtower. Effigy was on my list tonight, and I got it next, complete with the Folsom Prison jam in the middle. Kris Myers & Andy Farag of Umphrey's McGee joined Matt for tonight's drum solo. They closed with a kick-ass About to Rage>Lola, and Mule! The encore was NOT Soulshine, but a very sweet Sugaree as Brendon from Umphrey's joined in. A great way to end the show!
>
> Great hanging with my running partner Zee, Nate, Tim, Pete, Terri, Don, Pete and Melanie, Jim, China, and the other FOB freaks! Did I mention that someone clamped on my stand did not save the info on his memory card when he switched after 2 hours? Any idea who that was PETE? Lopez was working the scene for Mule as usual. I got to chat with him after the show. Had to make tracks as music was on the late night horizon!
>
> Last week I had gotten into an arguement with Kenny about the Mule. I told him how I relished seeing their live shows and he told me he thought they were boring. They have integrated so many songs into their rotation the past 2 years. Thier setlists are anything but standard! I consistantly walk out of Mule shows feeling satiated and fulfilled. I can't remember the last time I left a Mule show saying "they weren't that good tonight. They are one of the most consistant bands on tour in my opinion. To each is own I guess.

Gov't Mule Pittsburgh 6/8/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> Sorry for the delay again, life on the road will do that to ya. After waking up after last night's show, we got it together to head east on I-70 to Pittsburgh. Day 2 of my adventures with Zee! We grabbed a bite to eat along the way at Ruby Tuesday's. I opted for a healthy choice of the Salad Bar. Two big platefuls of greens, salds, and other delights. A bit of ruffage is always good for you. A lot of ruffage, and Zee would suffer along on the ride! We arrived in downtown Pittsburgh thanks to the On-Star help from Tim on the phone! We saw a bunch of tents, so we parked in the garage a couple of blocks away. We wondered until we finally found the stage. It was right by one of the bridges that spanned the 3 rivers. What a beautiful area to hold the show! The fountains and green grass surrounding us would make you feel like you weren't even close to being downtown. There was a band finishing up there set for about 20 minutes. The taping section was right in front of the board. It sounded pretty good there, but......it sure would be better up close. The area was in front had folding chairs the festival provided along with lawn chairs folks brought from home. I found a chair and put in DFC next to some other folks as they were cool about it. Zee saw me up there and joined me. The thing about a free concert is, well, you get lots of local folks that are there to get drunk and raise hell. There was a mix of Mule Fans, along with this element. That is part of the adventure of taping up front.
>
> I stopped over at the sound board to exchange pleasantries with Slim as he was getting ready to run sound. I ran into Thomas Ott, who I taped with in the rainstorm at the Mule show in Toledo in 1999. First time seeing him in 7 years. Dan the Man who lives here came out to tape as well. His first question was, where is Nate? I asked him where the hell is Alex? A show in his hometown and he is absent! He is in Savannah for the summer. It was fun without you bro, next time.
>
> The Mule hit the stage to the delight of a very raucous crowd! A mellow Hammer and Nails opener. Just as they began, we received a smattering of rain. The rain only lasted about 10 minutes thank goodness. The Thorazine got everyone pumped. The upbeat 32-20 Blues contained a couple of teases, I'm a Loser, and Midnight Rider. Then the back and forth ballad of Doves Cry>Beautifully Broken. My first one in a long time. This segued smoothly into a Sco-mule. My first Maybe I'm Amazed sounded great, as I have wanted to hear this for some time. The Rockin' Horse>Time to Confess was right on the money! The 1 hour and 45 minute set ended with a rockin' Bad Little Doggie>Livin' Lovin'>Blindman. We awaited the expected Soulshine, but to our surprise we got a Mule>I've Been Workin'>Mule instead. The, we got a Soulshine. A nice long encore left us feeling we definitely got our moneysworth. Oh, wait a minute, it was a free show! My friend Rick who drives for the band, got a hold of Lopez who was doing triple duty, working on the road with now 3 bands! We met up and chatted for a bit. I told him we would see him tomorrow night.
>
> What would be a great show without some superior eats. We hit the local flavor at a couple of the tents. That would serve as an appetizer, as Zee needed to check out Primanti Bros! We ordered the huge sandwich with plenty of Cappicola, Cheese, and fries that have made this joint a local institution!
>
> As we left the garage and headed onto the expressway, we ended up sitting for at least 20 minutes as I-279 was backed up due to night time construction. This sucked! We got back to the hotel, and crashed as we watched the next installment of the Deadliest Catch on Discovery.

Dave Matthews Band Columbus 6/7/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> First of all, Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there! Sorry for the delay here on this one. After a nice stay at home, I headed back to Ohio. I actually flew into Detroit and arrived late morning. I would have a sidekick for the next couple of days, Zee. There was some music to be seen and recorded, and as he is going to Alaska for the summer, we thought this would be a nice farewell mini tour to hang together. He arrived about 1 hour after me. We headed south on I-75, and made a pitstop in Toledo to visit Tim. Now it was south to Columbus for the evening's show at Polaris (now Germain Ampitheatre). We got to the lot at about 6:00, as doors were opening. The rains came! The show was sold out and we did not have a ticket. Not overly concerned as "shit happens" all the time. Thanks to Tim's umbrella we borrowed, I headed out in the lot in search of 2 ducats. It was tough as it usually is, but after about 35 minutes, I purchased 2 pavilion seats for face value. They were not high up, but all the way to the right. I knew the seat in Section D, Row R number 4, would not find my ass in it tonight. I did see one mic stand a couple of rows benind the board, and cut across to get there. Nobody home, so I set up right next to it and ran for G Love and Special Sauce. He came on 4 minutes early. The 47 minute set did not move me. I saw them open for Panic in 1999? Too much rap/hip hop for me.
>
> Jeff, the owner of the stand showed up during G Love's set and said I could clamp on. Excellent as my seat was not there. After the 37 minute stage change out, Dave appeared to the delight of the sold out audience. All those people on the lawn were already drenched. I know the feeling. However, tonight, we would be dry. The place erupted as the opening notes of Pantala eased into Rapunzel. Right away, I noticed the extra member of the lineup. It was Rashawn Ross on trumpet. A very LARGE dude! He was a nice compliment to LeRoi on sax. It looked like he was sporting a black t-shirt of Scarface.
>
> The Crash and Lie In Our Graves had the crowd primed! The Lie in our Graves clocked in at over 16 minutes! Next came some new material that was really good. Dave played many of his heavy weight standards to the delight of all. The Dancing Nancies was one in particular. Dave broke out the electric guitar for last year's new tune, Smooth Rider. The So Much>Too much was right on the money! The Crush Me featured a nice musical dual between Boyd and Stefan. And Leroi added a nice Flute to this one. They closed with Stay. They re-entered the stage to a thunderous applause. We were treated to a pair, Digging a Ditch and another crowd favorite, Tripping Billies.
>
> The sound was as good as expected for Polaris. Ever since my first show there many moons ago, I never felt the sound was as good as the many other "cookie cutter" outdoor sheds I've frequented. I really liked the new stage backdrop with the 3 huge screens and new lights! They did a great job! The addition of Rashawn was a noticable improvement to the sound. I sent discs home to Chris, and she commented on hearing the difference as well. Always a great time hangin' with my partner in crime, Zee. Finally got to see B.J. at a show! Thanks for the clamp on Jeff! After the show, we were thinkin' Waffle House as I can always put down a Chicken Melt Plate Double Scattered and Smothered! No WH near the hotel, so it was BW3's. In about 15 minutes, out table top at the booth was covered with all kinds of sauced wings, legs, and various other greasy delights! After we chowed, we hit the hotel and Discovery channel to watch the Deadliest Catch. A great show on Crab fishermen. Check it out!

Jesse Colter Atlanta 6/4/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> I'm not sure if you noticed but I did not mention any eats after the Freddy Jones Band. The truth is, I was on a mission as soon as the show was over. I made up my mind to go to Smith's per Jimbo's invite last night at the Fox's BBQ. Pete was along from jump on this double header. To make things interesting, Tracy sent John home and now I was the babysitter. We walked the mile back to the car, and headed to Smith's. We got there and the doors were not yet open so we grabbed a table downstairs and started drinking brews. We were hungry and ordered some Jalepeno Poppers and Chicken Taquitos. They were gone before you knew it. After a few beers, Jimbo went upstairs with us. As I usually tape most every show I see, this was no different. Jimbo made arrangements with Jesse's permission to allow me to tape. The only downside was I had to sign a release stating I would never make copies except for the band. I abliged and set up in front of the board. It was an interesting crowd of Country fans with some money. They were mostly dressed up for the occasion.
>
> Pete and I sat by the mics and watched intently as the show began just at about 9:00. There was a couple of speeches and then the introduction. The band minus Jesse rambled through 5 songs. The I Know You Rider sung by Christopher was particularly jammin'! The Cellist/Violinist took us through a sweet medley consisting of Wabash Cannonball>workin' on the Railroad>Smoke on the Water>OBS. At that point, Jesse was introduced and the place erupted. She started us off with a version of Why You Been Gone So Long. Lookin' for Blue Eyes seemed to get the crowd going. I have never seen her before so I am not familiar with her songs. The most interesting cover of the night was Dylan's Rainy Day Women! She actually introduced the song first. She closed the abbreviated set with You Always Make the Sun Shine. no encore, just a 66 minute set.
>
> Dillon had the room dialed in. I did notice a slight buzz between a couple of songs, could have been a guitar pickup. It was a solid performance by a great bunch of musicians. Ritchie Albright was Waylon's drummer since 1963! The great Reggie Young played lead guitar. Christopher Robin added some nice rhythm and a few leads himself. Kevin on bass was also in Waylon's band for several years. not sure who the back-up singer was, but she did have a pretty voice.
>
> After the show, we stayed and partied with Jimbo and Dillon. I called home as Chris went shopping after we left for the day. Pete and I arrived home in time to turn the almost 1 pound pork chops on the grill. We prepared ourselves for the killer midnight snack! Believe it or not, Pete hit the wall shortly after eating and left me downstairs on my own. Here is how it went down:

Freddy Jones Band Atlanta 6-4-2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> I heard about the Freddy Jones Band playing the Summer Fest in Atlanta about a week prior to the show. I called Tracy to let her know as she is good friends with the boys. (I think she is good friends with everyone). She was surprised, as was I that they were playing again. I haven't seen them in 10 years! They used to open for Panic back in like 1993-1994 if I recall. We got up after a long day of partying at the Fox's BBQ the day before! Our guests were all leaving today, except for Pete, it was an easy sell to have him go to another show! I prepared some killler omlettes with fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, green onions, salsa, sharp cheddar, and sour cream. Served with bagels and fresh cantalope, and some Kona coffee. After saying goodbye to our guests, Pete and I headed down to the Highlands with my gear. It was a beautiful day and Chris asked if I was taking an umbrella. I said why? Yhat was my first mistake of the day.
>
> We found a place to park and headed in. I ran into an old friend Julie, that I have not seen since the Dogwood Festival in 1997! We recognized each other and chatted for a bit. We then hiked what seemed like a mile towards the stage. I got there as Bain Mattox was on stage. I set up FOB and ran the last half of their set. Never heard or seen these local guys. No clue on their setlist, any help? Tracy showed up and introduced me to Rob and a couple of others in the band.
>
> As Freddy Jones was about to come on, the sky was covered in gray clouds, and you guessed it, the rains came! I was able to put my gear under the 10' x 10' sound tent. Jason, the sound guy was spinning Phish between sets, so I knew it was cool to ask him. It poured for about 10 minutes as the band started up. In no time, it looked like a wet t-shirt contest as I was not the only one without an umbrella. They opened up with Late This Morning. It was appropriate they played Rain today! Some familiar songs such as Waitress was included in today's setlist. The highlight was the Take the Time sandwich with some Baba O'Riley filling! The In a Daydream encore was very nice as well. Not sure if I got all the songs correct.
>
> The rain subsided after the first song, and I went back up front with Pete. I got to meet Jeff up there. Who else shows up, Robert Kwon, always great to see him! Tracy visited us several times with margaritas and beers during the set.

Outformation Atlanta, Georgia 6/3/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> Got up early, as Chris and I got the yardwork done in a couple of hours. Still a bit tired from getting in at about 4:00 from Athens last night. A beautiful day for a BBQ! Charles and Mindy got up and we chowed on bagels that I picked up at Bageliscious. Some fresh peaches and cantalope as well. Chris C. came over and we headed to Brookhaven area for the Fox Brothers BBQ. We arrived and met Martin, DP, Carrington, and proceeded to set up in front of the stage about 12 feet out. People began to arrive and first up would be Mark Brut. He has gotten the band back together! He had a bassist and drummer. They only got to rehearse twice prior to the show. I usually see Mark solo acoustic, today, he was plugged in. The Bros had everything together and the yard looked nice.
>
> Mark came on at about 3:15. Not a lot of folks were there at first, but it filled in pretty soon afterwards. He opened with a version of Glow. The Centralia sounded very familiar and sounded good. My favorite segment was the It Is What it IS followed by The Sky is All Mine. Bird Dog sat in for the latter giving us some nice percussive sounds. The set stretched out to almost 1 hour. I think the players are all still very new. If they can play together and learn Mark's songs, he could be on to something. He has written some very good songs. I was looking for some Lou Reed covers, as Mark has been known to play them. After the set came the announcement, BBQ is served! After getting our gear ready for Out411, I hopped in line for BBQ. I filled my plate with some nice burnt ends of pulled pork, some juicy ribs, Mac n' cheese, ....YUMMY! I sat down with everyone and ate till it was gone! Excellent job Fox Bros! And for dessert, Outformation baby! Sam and the boys hit the stage just after 5:00.
>
> You couldn't have asked for nicer weather, as it never really got too hot. The sun was not a factor due to the shade of the trees. The beer kicked earlier than expected, but there was some Help on the Way! More Sweetwater 420 was delivered, twice I heard. The boys kicked off with an instrumental as they have so many times, Valley Blue. The Sweet Loisiana had the BBQ swishing inside to the beat. I enjoyed the Cry in Your Beer. The best part of the set to me was the closer, The Take Out>Ninety. A great end to a tight 1 hour set. Eli had the sound dialed in, which is tough when you are working behind the stage.
>
> The second set kicked off with one that Sam has been promising me for some time, the old Tucker favorite, 24 Hours at a Time. This version enlisted the acoustic guitar from Mark Brut and flowed into Edgewater. We then got the Dark Severensen that we missed from last night's show in Athens. This song has totally grown on me over the past year or so. We got to hear Grady test out his pipes for 2 tunes in a row, Waylon's Lonesome, Ornery, and Mean, followed by Bad Bitch. Then a nice Titles sandwich flowing into the set closer of another Tucker favorite, Blue Ridge Mountain Sky.
>
> After an 18 minute let's catch our breath break, it was time for the third set. The Stone in my Shoe has always sounded great to me, and this one was almost 11 minutes long! The A of D>Burned Faceless followed by 2 more Tucker classics made for a very nice third set. Shotrt and very sweet.
>
> There were way too many friends to begin listing here. You know who you are and it was tons of fun hangin' with you!!!! We were tired after 6 straight hours of partying! We ended up heading out after saying our goodbyes. We now layed claim to Pete, as he would spend the night in the burbs with all of us. Who knows, perhaps he will stay Sunday as there are more shows to see, and so little time to do them! Can't wait for the next BBQ here! Here is how it went down:

Outformation Athens 6/2/2006

Outformation Athens 6/2/2006
>
> Hey 'All,
>
> Got home very late the night before as my plane experienced the usual Delta $&^$^$#!! I have had 3 horrible experiences my last 4 trips. Worked around the house Friday until about 2:45. Stacey flew in from Raleigh and I picked her up at the Marta station. We headed up towards Athens. It took over an hour just to get to Gwinnett! Traffic everywhere on this Friday afternoon. We finally made it, stopped by Lara's oven(I mean apartment), and headed to Lumpkin Street. We went over to the Taco Stand as Stacey never went there. I sent Carrington and Pete there as well. I only ordered a burrito, as I knew Little Italy would be calling my name for a slice of pie. Wrong, Charles and Mindy were calling my name for dinner at the Thai Cafe. I got there in the rain 5 minutes later. The whole band was there for dinner and we all sat together. Grady, Lee, Clark, Bird Dog, and Eli were already there. I sat with them and ended up ordering some SPICY basil. We all were served and the food was very good. I have eaten in here for years and noticed they changed the name. The food was still very good. The spicy vegetables would surely come into play later. Chard called me and would be meeting us at the show. I was hoping to get to the Melting Point and record John Cowan, and then do Outformation. Cowan was cancelled due to illness.
>
> We headed in to the Georgia Theatre. Backyard Tire Fire opened up at about . Their leader Ed, was formerly of the band Brother Ed that I have caught before. I met there road manager, Nick. Very nice dude. We talked about the band, their songs, and what they are up to. Ed was their guitarist and songwriter. He also played keyboards on one tune. I told Nick they would be well rounded to add a keyboard player. They played some very good original compositions as well as a few nice covers. They hit stride after a few numbers. The Honey to a Bee>Gray Sky Blue>The Devil Made Me Do It This Time was very well performed. I enjoyed the Billy Jo Shaver tune as it worked very well with a smooth segue. After the Tore Down, they closed with a Mark Byleu tune, 800 Miles. A nice 1 hour set to get us primed for the entree!
>
> We had a nice little FOB section set up. Besides myself, there was Charles and Mindy, DP and Kelli, Chard and Lindsay, Martin, Stacey, Carrington and Pete, Jayne, Lara, Brut, J.T.(hope your move to S.C. was good),and a few others. Outformation hit the stage at about 11:27. A nice new jam called Sony Guts lead into Can't Change the Past. Next up was one of my favs, Stone in my Show and this one stretched out almost 12 minutes. The Toy's Lament was my first and it sounded great. Clark dedicated Time Stands Still to our dearly departed friend Zac W. Hard to believe it's been 6 years since we lost him. They closed with another one I really enjoy, 90. We enjoyed a breather of about 17 minutes and back to business.
>
> They opened with an Edgewater>Sweet Louisiana. That song always gets the crowd stirring. Next was my personal favorite, Center Stage. This segued seemlessly into Tennessee Before Daylight. I got to hear Clark's new one, Set Me Free. A Titles sandwich with a hot Burned Faceless and Long Hard Ride among other songs, closed the set. The crowd was about 150-200, a good showing in Athens. And they were treated to a very fine show indeed. After we broke down, Charles and Mindy followed me back to Marietta. The ride was only about 70 minutes. I listened to my recording and was very happy. We stayed up for a bit to unwind.

Johnny Winter/Charlie Musselwhite Ann Arbor 5/31/2006

>
> Hey Y'All,
>
> This past weekend, I ended up working Friday thru Monday about 15 hours each day. That meant my plans to see either Summer Camp (3 nights of moe), or Hookahville (2 nights of Hookah), went bye bye. I had to re-open my newest account for the summer season on Lake Erie. I left work at about 5:00 and went to get my gear and change. I headed up 23 North to Ann Arbor. If I husseled, I could hit Whole Foods on my way to the Ark. I talked to Brian in Ann Arbor and he said the radar was looking ugly, more storms on the way. I thought about this show last week even though it was long sold out. In and out of Whole Foods with some Chipolte Brisket and some Irish sharp cheddar cheese in 10 minutes. I found a spot on the street 2 blocks away and made my way to the Ark at 7:30 where there was a long line filing in. I found a ticket as I walked up and put my bag behind my shirt and went in. I have always enjoyed Charlie Musselwhite, and was hoping he would join Johnny for his set also. He was fabulous at Warren's Christmas Jam when he sat in with everyone.
>
> As I walked in, there was Mudfoot at the soundboard. Hadn't seen him in about 4 months. I grabbed a seat in the row just beyond the 6 rows of reserved seating, right in the middle. I saw Ruth, Jim, and Laurie, but did not get a chance to talk as time was tight. Charlie came on just after 8:00. He had a 4 piece band that were quite tight. He was the master of ceremony. They kicked off the set with a nice Gone Too Long.He played an assortment of blues tunes. The Church is Out and Black Water were sweet. He played about 45 minutes, but the crowd was not about to let him leave without an encore. He played several tunes from his newest release, DELTA HARDWARE. There was about 25 minutes to switch out the stage. I chatted with Brian. Never got to chat with Jeff, but believe me, he was there as always!
>
> There were a few empty seats in the last row of reserved, so I helped myself, in the middle of course. The lights went down and the band took the stage minus Johnny. Another guitarist was up there in his place, and quite good. After the first song, Johnny came up and replaced the guitarist. He sat n the middle of the stage with his short neck guitar. As soon as he plugged in, you could hear the buzz. It was there to stay. Halfway through the set, I went over and said something to Mudfoot as it was very apparent between songs and even on slow, mellow parts. His vocals were a bit on the low side also. It could be he just doesn't have the old pipes. His first song was a great rendition of Hideaway. Always liked that song. I remember the version on my Dead Bootleg from the Harding Theatre from 11/71. Next up was Sugar-Coated Love. He played some very solid covers such as the Ray Charles nugget, Blackjack, and a great verson of Muddy Waters' Hoochie Coochie Man. He closed out the short set with Johnny Guitar. The power trio was dishin' out the blues and the crowd got them back for a Mojo Boogie and another cover, Highway 61 for the encore. Johnny played a different guitar, and the buzz was gone. He has aged some, but those long narrow fingers still had the magic. Charlie never did stick around to join them. That was what I wanted. If you are in Portland on 6/4/2006, go check out this blues guitar legend at the Aladdin Theatre.
>
> After the show, I was in mourning as the New York Pizza Depot was already closed, a sure sign that it was summer in Ann Arbor. Back in the Jeep and headed south to Ohio. I thought Tim F. was going to meet me, oh well, his loss. Here is how it went down:
